Overview

Farmer Brothers has an excellent opportunity for a District Sales Manager to support the coffee and tea route based business in the market.  The qualified candidate will have the opportunity to oversee a team of Route Sales Representatives that sell and deliver coffee and related products to our customers.  Assign work projects and monitor group schedule to ensure optimum efficiency and rapid turnaround.  Oversee group to ensure established policies and procedures are followed.  Provide immediate supervision to assigned group (based on territory).  Interface with customers to resolve problems that fall outside the organization's procedures.  The District Sales Manager is also directly involved in the dispatch and supervision of the field service technician, along with analyzing and prioritizing customer equipment and service needs. 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for day-to-day planning and execution of customer service support to ensure customers receive the best service possible.
  • Accountable for ensuring a high level of customer retention.
  • Maintain customer presence and manage customer retention by providing value-added services and fostering professional relationships with key customer personnel.
  • Oversee unique customer requirements/issues regarding installation, service, invoicing, pricing, scheduling or other terms and conditions of orders.
  • Monitor all order processing, price quotations and other customer support activities. 
  • Advise Operations and Sales Management of any potential problems/details that could significantly impact overall order entry and/or sales and budget plans. 
  • Prioritize staff workloads in order to meet business and customer needs/objectives.
  • Hire, train and provide coaching, counseling and feedback to employees.
  • Establish goals and objectives for employees.
  • Responsible for personnel management including, but not limited to, recruitment, training, performance management/appraisals, salary administration, terminations and a commitment to diversity. 
  • Manage the daily route distribution regarding on time deliveries, preventative maintenance, product availability and storage, inventory shortage, vehicle maintenance and safety.
  • May be required to provide route relief on an as needed basis.
  • Responsible for overseeing Accounts Receivable for assigned territory.
  • Review weekly A/R reports and works with staff to improve collections.
  • Assist in resolution of payment issues between customer and accounts receivable to ensure lowest level of A/R is achieved.
  • Partner with sales staff to implement sales promotions, and other marketing related activities.
  • Communicate and train staff to appropriately communicate marketing activities to customer base.
  • Assess customer and key decision makers needs and determine product and service offerings to exceed customer needs.
  • Identify new sales opportunities and refer opportunities to sales staff. 
  • Provide leadership and training needed for District to meet Sales, Profit, and Individuals Sales Goals for each District Employee, and to increase customer count year over year.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree preferred High School diploma or equivalent and 5-7 years working experience in a related customer service business to business field.
  • Previous supervisory experience and/or demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Proficient in assessing customer needs.
  • Ability to lift 75 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record.
  • Must comply with State and Federal mandated requirements of controlled substances & alcohol testing.
  • Must be knowledgeable about and understand current Department of Transportation regulations.
  • Able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Able to make decisions with high level of confidence.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interface with multi-functional groups/personnel within an organization.
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
  • Must possess strong PC skills including spreadsheet and word processing software.
