Farmer Brothers has an excellent opportunity for an Qaulity Assurance SupervisorThe candidate plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates activities related to the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program under guidance of QA Manager/SQF Practitioner.  Develops and/or maintains quality standards for the manufacturing facility to ensure consistent roasted coffee quality, consistent packaging and ensure facility meets common standards in the industry. He/she will implement various components of a quality assurance programs comprised of data analysis, systems evaluation, product assessment (includes cuppings), and quality technology. Responsible for identifying and resolving quality problems related to the development and production of coffee and tea.  Researches product defects recommending modifications in products or standards and prepares necessary reports.


  • Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates activities related to the Safe Quality Food (SQF) program under guidance of QA Manager/SQF Practitioner.
    • Ensure that SQF rules are being respected rigorously
    • Maintain, validate and helps to revise annually the SQF Program
    • Participate in and/or conducts internal audits
    • Ensure a good follow-up of non-conformities of the SQF Program by developing and putting in place realistic action plans with the help of a multi-disciplinary team
    • Train and guide management employees that have a role in the SQF Program to ensure their good understanding of the rules and development as a team of the best control measures possible
    • Support Production in the application of the SQF rules by the employees
    • Analyze production steps to determine efficient control points based on the SQF program and revise them when changes are made
    • Train and supervise quality assurance technicians in the application and/or monitor the SQF controls
  • Acts as alternate to cover in absence of QA Manager (SQF Practitioner).
  • Manage institution, development and review of the HACCP Program.
  • Work with all employees to ensure that quality standards are met in roasting, grinding, and packaging of coffee and tea.
  • Conduct internal audits to monitor the quality of our product and work with Managers to develop corrective action steps to correct deviation.
  • Cup production roasts and incoming coffee daily (as needed).
  • Maintain quality labs: ensure good record keeping, maintain quality equipment and QA personnel are following all steps.
  • Supervise and direct QA Technicians.
    • Provide training to all personnel on Quality Assurance Standards.
    • Assist in the development of new coffee and tea blends.
    • Assist in monitoring of Quality Complaints: helping maintain records, follow-up with customers, report findings to management.
    • Assist other department managers/supervisors with projects as needed.
    • Support Product Development Manager as needed.
    • Act as a designated Food Safety and/or GFSI Qualified Individual (i.e. SQF Code Practitioner) for the facility and maintain Code System Elements relevant to the scope of certification.
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • 3 – 5 years supervisory/leadership experience in a Quality Assurance role is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in a coffee/food/related manufacturing environment required.
  • HACCP certification required
  • SQF or other GFSI schema certification is a plus.
  • Ability to provide or complete SQF certification is required
  • Knowledge of FSMA, FDA and USDA regulations a plus
