    Farmer Brothers has an exciting opportunity for a Engineering and Maintenance Manager.  This position is responsible for managing programs, procedures and goals to ensure that plant personnel are safe, productive and effectively utilized. This individual will be a key member of the Plant Leadership Team and must be able to work effectively with other key areas of the facility, as well as coach and develop team members.


    Responsibilities

    • Key leader and sponsor in the continued progression of Total Productive Manufacturing (Preventive/Predictive Programs).
    • Plan, schedule, document, and verify all maintenance work to be performed (planned and unplanned).
    • Provide engineering support for project management of plant capital plans.
    • Work closely with operations team to effectively maintain all plant processing, packaging and support equipment in proper running order, while meeting all
    government mandated criteria necessary to continue plant operations.
    • Manage environmental impact to meet or exceed governmental standards and company policies.
    • Manage, coordinate and control all aspects of engineering to meet agreed departmental objectives.
    • Develop the maintenance strategy.
    • Develop and implement an energy program to prevent waste/reduce utility consumption.
    • Develop an effective parts management strategy.
    • Work closely with the operations team to review and audit the preventive/predictive maintenance programs for assigned production and facility equipment to ensure a safe, efficient operation with a minimum of cost and downtime.
    • Broad base knowledge of electric motors, belt, chain and gear drives, hydraulic, pneumatic and HVAC system.
    • Ability to effectively troubleshoot mechanical and electrical failures and implement repairs.
    • Responsible for plant continuous improvement initiatives and resolution.
    • Complies with Safe Quality Food 2000 Code (SQF 2000 Code).
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Engineering Degree in a related field.
    • 5+ years Engineering/Maintenance experience in a high-volume production facility, preferably in food manufacturing.
    • Familiarity with OSHA and GMP guidelines.
    • Management experience in the development and expansion of facility and personnel.
    • Experience in environmental and industrial processed, electrical and mechanical problem solving.
    • Professional Engineer’s License a plus.
    • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
    • Strong knowledge of PLC’s programming and problem solving: Allen Bradley preferred.
    • Significant experience in risk-based maintenance engineering and cost of goods sold (COGS) optimization.
    • Continues Improvement/Six Sigma/Lean Manufacturing implementation experience.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Work well in team environment
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to create verbal and written instructions
    • Able to work effectively with outside contractors
    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
    • Able to lift 50lbs
    • A basic knowledge of MSDS structures
