    Farmer Brothers has an exciting opportunity for a Production Supervisor.  The Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing the production operation within the guidelines established by the plant and corporate policy in a safe, efficient and quality manner. Responsible for supervising employees engaged in all phases of manufacturing. Duties include safety, quality, customer service, sanitation, training, performance management, plant productivity, labor utilization, and control of raw materials.

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinate packaging operations across all shifts.
    • Provide leadership and guidance in daily packaging sequence planning.
    • Provide leadership and guidance in ensuring coffee quality.
    • Maintain GMP and Sanitation Standards including required documentation.
    • Ensure labor cost including overtime and casual labor are within or better than AOP.
    • Ensure all equipment is in optimal operating condition.
    • Maintain OEE performance goals.
    • Drive continuous improvement programs.
    • Develop and manage daily tools on production floor for the operators and supervisors to communicate to their staff
    • Manage the shift pass down exchange between supervisors.
    • Implement and improve an accountability format for all staff members that will capitalize on their strengths and improve on any weaknesses.
    • Responsible for the direction and implementation of proper Sanitation programs (Good Manufacturing Practices) to meet and/or exceed Federal, State as well as corporate guidelines for plant manufacturing.
    • Develop and maintain working relationships with all levels of the plant and corporate management.
    • Develop and maintain professional working relationships with union representatives.
    • Promote and support cost savings projects to meet individual and plant goals.
    • Ensure necessary communication is delivered to all production employees.
    • Drive accountability for ongoing initiatives.
    • Coordinate with quality department on customer complaints, Root Cause Problem Solving (RCPS), corrective actions, and accountability.
    • Complies with Safe Quality Food 2000 Code (SQF 2000 Code).
    • Develop team members to handle daily business needs to meet goals and objectives.
    • Utilize resources to accomplish plant goals through establishment of effective organizational relationships, decision guidelines, effective controls, and realistic goals and objectives.
    • Responsible for smooth operations of production while ensuring that all procedures are followed properly.
    • Plan and carry out monthly or periodic inventories.
    • Work with team members to establish and maintain acceptable standards in the areas of appearance, attendance, work habits, etc.
    • Ensure that the team and individual development processes are functioning well and making proper use of the capabilities of the teams and their members.
    • Identify departmental and plant cost savings projects.
    • Maintain comprehension of current labor contract, ensuring proper and uniform administration of its provisions.
    • Maintain departmental programs which assure full compliance with pre-established Federal, State, Corporate, and Plant sanitation and safety standards.
    • Manage our structured departmental cost reduction/improvement programs to meet or beat our annual savings and productivity improvement targets.
    • Inform employees of their food safety and regulatory responsibilities, their role in meeting the requirements of the Food Safety Code, and responsibility to report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action and/or the designated Food Safety and/or GFSI qualified Individual.
    • Other duties assigned.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma required.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred.
    • 7+ years of related production supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience in GMP, HACCP and GFSI standards.
    • Familiar with union contracts and manufacturing operations.
    • Strong planning, organizing, and time management skills.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Power Point, Access).

    • Decision-making skills with an inherent ability to command, consult, gain consensus and effective delegation also required.
    • Must be willing and able to rotate shifts.
