  • Overview

    The Supervisor, Inventory Control is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing the inventory control function for assigned location(s).  Supervisors inventory movement to ensure the accuracy of the perpetual inventory system and to facilitate the timely distribution of products.  Responsible for devising and enforcing inventory related procedures designed to minimize inventory related loss.  


    • Ensures the accuracy of the flow of inventory; through process and procedure verification, system review audits and transaction documentation, improves security and tracking of inventory.
    • Designs and implements methods to further automate processes to realize efficiencies and reduce error.
    • Analyzes and investigates system transactions to ensure inventory accuracy.
    • Identifies root causes for inventory discrepancies and develop solutions/corrective actions to eliminate future occurrences. 
    • Partners with distribution and production staff to review/evaluate all aspects of material movement. 
    • Develops and coordinates employee training related to the inventory control procedures. 
    • Responsible for ensuring the accuracy of physical inventories and leads systematic cycle count efforts. 
    • Analyzes, verifies and reconciles cycle count disparities and inventory variances. 
    • Responsible for generating various reports concerning inventory and reviewing performance against key performance indicators (including in-transit report, inventory shrinkage, damaged and obsolete inventory, rework charges, etc.) to research and recommend process improvements. 
    • Presents report statistics including analysis and recommendations to management upon request. 
    • Responsible for order replenishment.  Determines appropriate product and quantity to order based on analysis/review of historical customer order data and projections from sales.  Contacts vendors and other facilities to place orders. 
    • Provides immediate supervision to distribution and warehouse employees by assigning tasks, checking work at frequent intervals and maintaining schedules.
    • Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies. 
    • Organizes and assigns work to ensure the highest level of accuracy, efficiency and lowest possible cost. 
    • May perform other duties as assigned. 


    • Bachelor degree in business, accounting, operations management, logistics, etc. or equivalent experience. 
    • 4+ years of inventory control related experience and minimum of 1 year experience in a supervisory/leadership capacity. 
    • Excellent knowledge of all warehouse, distribution, transportation and logistics related functions. 
    • Proficiency in using an on-line or enterprise software system to track inventory movement and utilizing warehouse management systems.
    • Able to handle multiple responsibilities and must be able to deal effectively with people using a facilitative approach. 
    • Strong written and oral communication, planning, problem solving and organizational skills.
    • Proven leadership experience where a need for tact, discretion and judgement has been needed.
