The Maintenance Mechanic II performs highly skilled mechanical and electrical work in the maintenance and repair of light to medium duty packaging, processing and building equipment such as conveyors, elevators, blowers, sifters, burners, grinders, conventional & high speed packaging machines, labeling/printing equipment, vacuum & hydraulic pumps, forklifts and air compressors. Works independently or with minimal supervision applying mechanical/electrical knowledge and considerable independent judgment in the repair, overhaul and re-manufacturing of plant equipment. Duties include troubleshooting and performance testing of production machinery, parts requisitioning/ordering and preventive maintenance/work order assignments.
Assignments are made orally or in writing; work is reviewed through observation of results obtained, conferences and periodic reports or evaluations. An employee in this classification will qualify for advancement to open tiers after 320 hours of work in the M2 classification.
