  • Overview

    The Director, Cost Accounting will be responsible for understanding, analyzing, accounting and reporting the Company's manufacturing activities across all plant locations (3).  This position will be responsible for coordinating and directing the cost accounting function, including development, installation and monitoring of cost control systems, and the interpretation and reporting to management.

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for directing the Cost Accounting department. 
    • Ensure company financial reports are prepared in compliance with policies and directives, US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements. 
    • Direct SOX compliance activities and internal controls are performed timely and accurately.
    • Work closely with plant management, business owners and executive management to understand operating activities and interpret financial results to make key operational decisions. 
    • Partner with FP&A to identify and evaluate actual cost and performance variances to budget and address any findings timely. 
    • Champion change management processes to improve accounting and reporting of results. 
    • Lead complex accounting projects and work closely with both internal and external auditors to ensure consistent application and compliance with US GAAP.
    • Contribute in the independent accountant's annual audit. 
    • Assist in annual budgeting an ongoing forecasting processes for key corporate entities and cost centers. 
    • Perform special projects as assigned by the Controller. 
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. 
    • MS or MBA preferred. 
    • CPA preferred. 
    • 10+ years of accounting experience with management level experience required. 
    • Public Accounting or accounting experience with a publicly traded company required. 
    • Experience working at a manufacturing company or a manufacturing audit client with exposure to cost accounting required. 
    • Excellent problem solving abilities and the ability to work with other departments. 
    • Highly organized and willing to engage with internal departments and external auditors to comply with filing and reporting requirements. 
    • Ability to manage multiple project simultaneously. 
    • Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
    • Ability to read and understand technical forms and financial reports.
    • Meets deadlines, follows through on commitments and delivers on promises. 
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
