  • Overview

    Under general supervision, responsible for conducting moderately complex cost audits and preparing and analyzing cost reports. Works in partnership with cost accounting team to perform cost analysis and reconciliation. Monitors cost control systems and interprets and disseminates cost accounting information to management. This position reports to the Manager of Cost Accounting.


    • Responsible for set up and maintain Item Master/Item Branch Plants (RNP & PES process).
    • Responsible for working with the General Ledger, specifically with month end closing.
    • Determine manufacturing costs and report on standard costs to actual production costs. 
    • Responsible for inventory reconciliations. 
    • Responsible for closing production work orders and variance
    • Assist with physical inventories and cycle counts and variance analysis and reporting.
    • Analyze inventory turnover; slow moving/obsolescence.
    • Identify, measure, and analyze key cost drivers and cost centers.
    • Assist in the evaluation of cost effectiveness of Farmer Bros. Co. maintenance operations compared to budget and forecast.
    • Prepare and send out monthly financial review to various departments.
    • Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion and suggest a resolution.
    • Interprets an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deals with several abstract and concrete variables.
    • May perform other duties as assigned.


    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

    • 2-4 years of experience working directly in cost accounting. 

    • Experience working in the Manufacturing industry preferred.

    • Experience working with Micro-Strategy software a plus.

    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts, such as profitability and statistical influence, as well as to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.

    • 5+ years operating Windows and associated Microsoft Office applications, including: MS Word, Power-Point, Access; Excellent Excel skills required.
